Earlier this year the Swedish Tax Agency sent out a notice to companies registered in Sweden. According to it the business owners are requested to pay attention to some changes concerning the procedures of this year’s income tax return.
First of all, many business owners have received their final tax statement in September instead of in December as normal. Another change is that the Tax Agency will send your final tax statement back to you immediately if they have decided to make changes in the final tax statement.
If you are entitled to tax refund and you have registered your bank account information, you have already received your final tax statement in June, provided that you’ve filled in your income-tax return form using the Tax Agency’s e-service. On the other hand, if you are obliged to pay tax and have not registered your account information, you’ll receive your final tax statement in September. This also applies to those who have filled in and sent one’s income-tax return form physically.
In case the Swedish Tax Agency needs to make changes in your income tax return, you will receive the decision regarding such changes along with your final tax statement. Those entitled to tax refund will receive it together with the final tax statement, while those obliged to pay tax must do it within 90 days.
Business leaders are urged to watch out for false invoices
Another notice of importance for business owners comes from the Swedish employers’ organization called the Svensk Handel. They warn about false invoices as a frequently occurring phenomenon. In a warning list, continuously updated and available on their website, they collect names of companies with unreliable sales methods and misleading offers or advertising. If you can’t find a certain company on the list, it doesn’t necessarily mean that their business is reliable. Svensk Handel urges entrepreneurs to be cautious!
