Now it’s easier than ever to start a company in the UK. 1Office offers now a unique solution where creating a company, ordering address service and accounting can be all done online, in one place and within some days. This option is available for both local and foreign entrepreneurs.
As of 2025, the UK is home to 5.46 million active and dormant companies. Despite a slight dip in new incorporations, the UK remains a magnet for startups and SMEs thanks to:
- Low share capital requirement, start with just £1(LTD)
- Attractive tax benefits and global investor access
- Skilled, English-speaking workforce
- Favorable time zone for international business
- Remote-friendly setup, no UK residency required
What types of corporate entities are in the UK?
The UK has three main forms of corporate entities:
Sole trader – mostly used by “one man” businesses, easiest to start but be noted that you are taxed together for your personal and business tax liabilities which means that your personal risk is very high.
Partnerships – the least common structure, which is quite easy to start but you still share full responsibility for your business’s debts.
Private limited company – registering is more complex but the company is a separate corporate body from the individual so personal assets remain separate and your personal risk is minimal. Liability for payment of the debt stops with the company.
We at 1Office offer mainly private limited company registration but of course, you can get help with registering other corporate entity forms too.

- No frustrating bureaucracy
- You can use our simple portal (no complicated applications like in Companies House)
- We will do everything else that you need to start a company in the UK
- We are there for you with everything you might need in your following business activities – we offer address service, monthly and chartered accounting, annual reports and we can help you with tax registrations, legal issues and secretary services.
Why and when do you need address service in the UK?
There are 2 address services that entrepreneurs most commonly need to start a company in the UK:
- The registered address is the legal address for the company. This address is publicly available to everyone and all the legal documents from Companies House and HMRC (addressed to the company) will be sent there.
- A directors service address is a legal address for directors and partners of a UK company. This address is publicly available to everyone and all the legal documents from Companies House and HMRC (addressed to any of the directors) will be sent there
Address service is a good opportunity to keep your home address private from customers, suppliers and other third parties. 1Office address service also includes forwarding all incoming letters to the company owners email addresses.
All-inclusive virtual business address package costs £125 per year. Provides a registered company address and directors’ service address (up to 3 directors), keeping your personal address private while meeting UK legal requirements.
Can non-residents open a UK company?
Absolutely. You don’t need to live in the UK or even visit. Our services are fully remote and tailored for non-resident entrepreneurs. Just note: due to AML regulations, we cannot support company formation for individuals from high-risk jurisdictions.
What’s changing in UK company law in 2025?
The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act is introducing key updates:
- Identity verification for directors and PSCs becomes mandatory in autumn 2025
- Companies House now has stronger powers to query or reject filings
- Registered office addresses must be verifiable and serviceable
- Personal data protection: You can now suppress certain personal details from public view
1Office stays ahead of these changes so you don’t have to.
