Apostille service for UK company documents

Make your UK company documents legally valid abroad.

If you need to use UK company documents outside the United Kingdom, for example to open a foreign bank account, register a branch, enter into cross-border contracts, or participate in international tenders, your documents will often require an apostille certificate.

What is an apostille?

An apostille is an official certificate issued by the UK authorities that confirms the authenticity of:

  • A signature
  • A stamp or seal

  • The capacity of the person signing the document

Once apostilled, your document becomes legally recognised in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

No further embassy legalization is required in those countries.

When do you need an apostille?

An apostille is typically required when:

  • Opening a bank account abroad

  • Registering a foreign branch or subsidiary

  • Providing company documents to overseas authorities

  • Participating in international tenders

  • Entering into regulated business activities in another country

If a foreign institution asks for “legalised” or “apostilled” documents, this service is required.

An apostille is an official certificate issued by UK authorities confirming the authenticity of a signature, stamp or seal on a document. It allows the document to be legally recognised in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.

How long does the apostille process take in the UK?

Standard processing usually takes up to 3 working days. Express processing (1 working day) is available for an additional fee.

Do I need to send original documents?

Yes, original documents are generally required. If you do not have the necessary company documents, we can order them from Companies House for an additional fee.

Which UK company documents can be apostilled?

Common documents include:

  • Certificate of Incorporation

  • Certificate of Good Standing

Is an apostille enough for every country?

An apostille is sufficient for countries that are members of the Hague Convention. If the destination country is not a member, additional embassy or consular legalization may be required. We can advise you accordingly.

Does the apostille confirm the contents of the document?

No. The apostille confirms the authenticity of the signature or seal, but not the content of the document itself.

How will I receive my apostilled documents?

We use tracked delivery services, including Royal Mail Guaranteed Next Day (UK) and International Tracked & Signed delivery. Premium courier service is also available.
